No more plastic washing up brushes needed with these coconut fibre alternatives.

The LoofCo Washing-Up Brush with Handle is ethically hand-made in Sri Lanka from coconut coir fibre twisted around a galvanised metal core with a rubberwood handle. The handles are made from rubber trees that have finished yielding latex in Sri Lankan rubber plantations.

• Rinse thoroughly before first use. Immerse in warm water and use with washing-up liquid. 

• The curved brush head design makes it versatile enough for everyday washing-up and robust enough for scrubbing baked-on food. 

• Effective for cleaning crockery, cutlery, pans and woks. 

• To keep brush fresh between uses, rinse and squeeze out excess water, shake out any food particles and hang to dry from string loop. 

• Occasionally soak in hot water with washing-up liquid and air dry to freshen brush. With care these will last for many months.

LoofCo’s (Loofah + Coconut = LoofCo) mission is to offer an alternative to mass-produced plastic washing-up brushes, pads, scourers and shower poufs that will not biodegrade. LoofCo products are inspired by cleaning methods that have been tried and tested over generations. Using this knowledge, they are skilfully created in Sri Lanka and Egypt. LoofCo farming practices use coconut fibres and husks that are left over from coconut food and oil production which would otherwise be wasted or burnt. All elements of LoofCo products are 100% compostable and biodegradable, except the metal core of the brushes which is recyclable. The cardboard packaging is recyclable and the sticker is made from cellulose and is biodegradable.

LoofCo take care to ensure that local farmers and production workers have an inclusive workplace, are treated fairly with wages and benefits, such as medical insurance, higher than normal rates. No children are employed. Some coconut producers use monkeys to aid with their harvest. LoofCo coconuts are not harvested in this way and are registered with the Vegan Society.
